The Umbrella Academy season 3 has a mid-credit scene that seems to be hinting at what’s to come in season 4. Here’s what you need to know!

After a longer than anticipated hiatus, The Umbrella Academy has finally returned to Netflix with its highly anticipated third season.

Picking up right where the season 2 finale left off, season 3 finds The Umbrella Academy members in a precarious situation as they return to the modern world only to find they’ve landed in an alternate timeline. In this timeline, there is no Umbrella Academy. Instead, there is The Sparrow Academy, a new group of superpowered individuals made up of a fresh group of characters as well a familiar face whose presence throws the group for a loop.

While there is a lot to unpack from the season, chances are if you’ve made it to this page you’re nearing the end of your binge and are trying to figure out if there is a reason to stick around for the credits once the final episode comes to a close.

Does The Umbrella Academy season 3 have a mid credit scene?

While most Netflix shows do not include any type of bonus footage after the credits begin rolling, The Umbrella Academy season 3 does in fact contain a mid-credit scene. In other words, don’t back out of the episode after the cast credits begin rolling as there is a scene to enjoy!

The Umbrella Academy season 3 mid credit scene explained

In the mid-credits scene from The Umbrella Academy season 3 finale, we’re transported to a South Korean subway train where we see Ben reading an unknown book of some kind. No dialogue is spoken outside of that from the train’s automated speaker notifying its passengers that the train is arriving at the Yeuido Station in Seoul.

So what exactly does the scene mean?

Well, fans will recall that the season began with a similar sequence kicking off on October 1, 1989, on a subway train in Seoul. In this moment, we meet a young couple clearly in love whose world is turned upside down when the young woman suddenly becomes pregnant and gives birth on the subway train seconds later.

It’s suggested this was Ben’s mother so his presence on the subway heading to Seoul in the mid-credit scene suggests Ben is setting out in hopes of finding his mother — who is likely to be alive in the reset timeline. If this is indeed the case, it should be interesting to see what Ben might find and how his search for his mother might factor into season 4.

Does The Umbrella Academy season 3 have an end credit scene?

While The Umbrella Academy season 3 finale does include a mid-credit scene, there is no end-credit scene to enjoy after the full credits come to a close. This shouldn’t be too surprising as Netflix isn’t known for including end-credit scenes. At least we received a mid-credit scene to give us even more to talk about now that the season is complete.
