Ms. Marvel: 5 crucial moments from episode 3
By Mark Lynch
4. Najma is using Ms. Marvel
After hearing everything that Najma tells her, Kamala goes to Bruno. She feels compelled to help the Clandestine get home. Of course, Bruno does what he can. After his research, Bruno finds out two things. First, Djinn lore says there’s a group of hidden Djinn that are exiled from their home (the Clandestine). The second is that the power needed to bring them home could be dangerous. Too bad the Clandestine don’t care.
All of the happiness and love the Clandestine showed Kamala was fake. They just want her powers to go home. While they’re powerful, the Noor’s abilities don’t have the same strength outside of their home reality. Since Kamala (who’s a Noor) is in her home reality, she’s more powerful. In order to get home, they’d have to use and possibly kill Kamala. Thankfully, Kamran wasn’t going to let that happen.
3. Kamran is on Ms. Marvel’s side
This writer can admit when he’s wrong. And he was just that here. In the comics, Kamran was an antagonist. Like we’ve discovered from multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, this isn’t Marvel Comics. The MCU continues to show that with each movie and show. In this case, Kamran was on the side of right.
This was a refreshing change. Kamran is a good kid. Seeing him fight on the right side and against the people he knows and loves is enough. But he also stopped them from possibly destroying an entire dimension and maybe the only way he could get home. Kudos to him and to the writing team for making this happen.
