The Boys season 3 episode 6 is streaming now on Amazon Prime and the creative team truly outdid themselves with this episode. Sure, we knew it was going to be an insane episode and one of the show’s most graphic episodes yet with the arrival of Herogasm, but what we weren’t prepared for was for the episode to kick off with yet another amazing pop-culture parody.
Warning: Spoilers from The Boys season 3 episode 6 ahead.
After tackling Kendall Jenner’s infamous Pepsi commercial, The Boys set its sight on yet another controversial moment at the top of episode 6 when it poked a bit of fun at Gal Gadot’s 2020 “Imagine” cover video.
To recap, back in 2020 as COVID-19 began sending countries into lockdown — including the US — the Wonder Woman star teamed up with a handful of celebrities including fellow comic book actors Natalie Portman (Thor), Amy Adam (Man of Steel) and Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers) for a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”
While the video was meant to inspire viewers and promote togetherness, many criticized the Gadot and company for being “out of touch.” Gadot has since agreed with critics that the video’s release wasn’t the right thing, admitting that, “It was in poor taste.”
It was one of the most-talked-about pop culture moments of 2020, so it’s only fitting that The Boys chose to put their own spin on the video with a hilarious spoof to open its sixth episode.
The Boys season 3 episode 6 celebrity cameos
As The Boys season 3 episode 6 begins, The Deep is recording a video on his phone which mimics the video shot by Gal Gadot back in 2020 telling his viewers that the last few days have left him feeling a little philosophical following the supervillain attacks. He then begins to sing “Imagine” before being joined by several celebrities who tie together the spoof of Gadot’s 2020 video.
Joining The Deep and various members of The Seven were some of today’s biggest stars from the big screen including the following stars in order of their appearance:
- Patton Oswalt
- Josh Gad
- Mila Kunis
- Ashton Kutcher
- Elizabeth Banks
- Kumail Nanjiani
- Aisha Tyler

We have to admit, we were not anticipating the episode to begin with a parody of Gadot’s polarizing video or for the creative team to have snuck in even move shocking cameos. It was yet another brilliant take on a major pop culture moment and one that definitely was unexpected!
