Ms. Marvel: 5 crucial moments from episode 4
By Mark Lynch
4. Ms. Marvel vs Red Dagger
Kamala is looking for answers to the vision she and her grandmother saw. Before she can get any answers, she’s confronted by the Red Dagger – whose real name is Kareem. The two do what all superheroes do when they meet: They fight each other and then eventually come to an understanding.
Kareem knew Kamala was a Noor, but was unaware that she wasn’t one of the Clandestine. The two left the train station and went to the Red Dagger’s base. This is where viewers find out that Red Dagger isn’t just him but it’s also more than a group of vigilantes. It’s an honorable title of people who protect the world from the Noor.
3. Clandestines and the Veil
Kareem brings Kamala to his base of operations. This is where he introduces her to Waleed – someone who explains the Noor’s plain of existence. It’s not another reality. It’s one of the realms on top of their own that can’t be seen. The Clandestine want to use the bangle to bring their world onto this one – something that would destroy this entire plane of existence everyone but the Noor live on.
Finally understanding what the Clandestine’s plan would accomplish makes the stakes higher. Now the viewers know why keeping the bracelet away from them is important. They must know what would happen and not care. As long as they can go home, they’re happy.
Don’t be surprised if What If…? season 2 does an episode about the Clandestine getting the bracelet.
