Thor: Love and Thunder age rating: Is the Marvel movie suitable for kids?
Thor: Love and Thunder is on its way to movie theaters, but will Marvel’s majestic mischief be suitable for the whole family to watch?
The God of Thunder is set to break a Marvel Cinematic Universe record as he headlines his fourth solo film, surpassing trilogy champions Captain America and Iron Man. Chris Hemsworth reprises the role for the ninth overall time in the MCU in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder as director Taika Waititi returns to bring fans another memorable adventure.
The film will see the return of Jane Foster, as Natalie Portman reprises her role for the first time in almost a decade. This time, though, Jane will be wielding the mighty hammer as she becomes Mighty Thor. And her help will certainly be needed, as the heroes are going up against the barbaric Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale).
Naturally, it’s an exciting time for Marvel fans and plenty of them will be heading out to the movie theaters to see it. But will the film be suitable for younger audiences?
Thor: Love and Thunder age rating
Thor: Love and Thunder is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for “intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, language, some suggestive material and partial nudity.” For fans in the UK, it has been rated 12A.
This is the same age rating that the majority of Marvel movies receive (even the somewhat darker Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), so it’s clear that this one isn’t going to breaking the successful family-viewing formula that MCU movies are renowned for.
It’s always best to air on the side of caution with sci-fi and superhero flicks because you’ll know what your children like and don’t like, but it is worth noting that this is the same age rating that all three previous Thor movies received, so if you’ve watched and enjoyed them as a family, this one should be no different.
