The Boys season 4 release updates: Is season 4 happening?

The Boys season 3 finale on Amazon Prime Video has come and gone, but what’s next for the show? When could we see the debut of The Boys season 4?

The Boys on Amazon Prime Video hasn’t disappointed. Everything from the creative violence, Herogasm, and the amazing storyline has made this the best season of them all. Every episode seemed to be better than the last. It helped that the characters were fantastic. Each of them added something different, but it helped bring the season together.

Billy Butcher became more determined to kill Homelander. Hughie and Annie January (Starlight) broke up after Hughie became obsessed with trying to save Annie even though she didn’t want to be saved. Marvin Milk was having family problems and Kimiko finally came to terms with her powers. That’s only some of the things going on. This writer hasn’t even gotten into Soldier Boy coming back or Homelander being his true self to the world.

One of the things that fans must have appreciated was The Boys never changing what it was. The show continued to be violent, bloody, and unpredictable. Some programs gain success and water down their product. Not The Boys. Producer and showrunner Eric Kripke knew what the fans wanted and he gave it to them. But it takes more than gore and nudity to keep people watching. This new season proved that the future of The Boys is bright. Speaking of the future, what’s next?

The Boys season 4 release date predictions

Before season 3 was finished, it was announced that The Boys season 4 was happening. This wasn’t shocking. Season 3 was announced before the second was at the halfway mark. There was no way that Amazon Prime Video was going to pass up on another chance with this show. Any streaming service would have jumped at the opportunity to produce the remainder of the series. Plus, Amazon Prime Video has The Boys Presents: Diabolical and a college spin-off.

Good news for fans of The Boys, Karl Urban (who plays Billy Butcher) told Collider that filming for season 4 will start in August.

"“Yeah, we’re starting I think August the 22nd, we’re going to be starting season four. So I’m getting back, getting my Butcher back on, and I can’t wait. It’s a fun gang to play with, we work hard and play hard, and I can’t wait to see where they take the characters from where we leave them at the end of this season.”"

One thing the creative team does well is get the product out as soon as possible. There wasn’t much time in between season 1 and 2. If not for the global pandemic, season 3 would likely have aired earlier than it did as well. We may have been talking about season 4 and the future of season 5.

With all of that in mind, The Boys season 4 could premiere sometime in mid-late 2023. Granted, that’s just a prediction, so it’s best to wait until official confirmation from Amazon, but it will likely be at least a year before the new season premieres. Thankfully, the creative team behind The Boys likely won’t leave fans without any content.

The Boys always seems to keep its product in the minds of fans. Sometimes it’s something as simple as a tweet sent at another comic book project. The Boys‘ official Twitter account sent a tweet to Thor’s director Taika Waititi asking for the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer. When it debuted, they tweeted, “a month late, but we’ll take it.” This keeps the project on people’s minds.

There’s also the Vought International YouTube page. That’s where the stars playing the heroes put out fictional commercials, music videos, and movie trailers. And there’s Vought News Network: Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman. A fictional news site that gives updates on the fictional world of . This way, fans of the show will never be starved for content. It’s the perfect way to remind fans that The Boys is always around and creating for their viewers.
