Thor: Love and Thunder made its presence felt in a huge way, and it certainly made audiences feel the experience with more than a few heartbreaking deaths. Spoilers ahead.

Thor: Love and Thunder is here. The long-awaited 29th installment in the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe, it arrives after a near three-year wait and it has already made an impression on Marvel fans.

Death is a natural part of the MCU movies. Remember, we’re still coming off the back of two game-changing Avengers movies that single-handedly reshaped the landscape of the MCU. We’re also talking about a movie with a character known as “The God Butcher” in it. So, yeah, death in these movies, like Thanos, is inevitable.

With that inevitability in mind, it’s no surprise that not every character survived the events of Thor: Love and Thunder. But who didn’t make it out of the New Asgard adventure and which of the film’s deaths were the most heartbreaking?

Who dies in Thor: Love and Thunder?

5. Zeus (momentarily)

Zeus was a pretty odious character, let’s be honest. Portrayed brilliantly by Russell Crowe, the God of Lightning wanted to do nothing more than enjoy the festivities of the haven in which he lived and make the most of his decadent lifestyle, all while ignoring the imminent threat of Gorr. And he was willing to do anything to keep doing that – including making Thor stay and threatening to kill him and his friends if they didn’t.

After almost killing Korg, Zeus himself was killed by Thor, who threw his Thunderbolt weapon through the god’s heart. While it wasn’t exactly a heartbreaking moment – or an actual death, it seems – it will go down as one of Thor: Love and Thunder‘s most shocking moments.
