The Boys season 3: 7 crucial moments from the season 3 finale
By Mark Lynch
4. Soldier Boy’s big bang finale
Just like Butcher, Queen Maeve had a choice to make: Does she finish off Homelander or save the heroes from Soldier Boy’s radioactive blast? For the second time in the series, Homelander was moments away from death. Instead of finishing off Homelander, Maeve grabbed Soldier Boy and jumped out of a window with him. Soldier Boy let out his blast with Maeve with him.
It looked like Maeve was dead. Vought International even put out a video commemorating her life as a hero. The blast takes the powers away from supes. And, from that height, the fall should have killed her. Thankfully for her, it didn’t. Maeve survived with some injuries and no longer has her powers. Maeve and her girlfriend are going to get away and live a normal life together.
3. Butcher has a year to live
Butcher knew that the Compound V24 was putting holes in his brain. After the final battle, he fell. When we saw him next, he was in the hospital. The doctor mumbled something, but the bottom line is Butcher has a year to live. Eighteen months tops. If Butcher keeps the same personality that he does in The Boys, he’s going to live his final days trying to kill every supe that’s a threat to the world.
