Could Melissa Benoist, Penn Badgley, or Natalia Dyer be cast to play major roles in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four project? Are any of them good picks to join Marvel’s First Family?

One of the most anticipated franchises for Marvel Studios is the Fantastic Four. Fans of Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been dying to see Marvel’s First Family. When John Krasinski appeared as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, they understandably went crazy. It was a fan-casting dream come true.

Unfortunately, it’s not likely that John Krasinski will be the permanent Mr. Fantastic going forward. No matter how much fans (this writer included) would like it to happen. That means someone will have to play him and other members of the Fantastic Four.

Well, as reported by Inverse, a new rumor/potential leak from 4Chan (via Reddit) has surfaced, suggesting that Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Penn Badgley (You on Netflix), and Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things) are all in consideration for roles in the MCU film.

Fantastic Four cast rumors

Penn Badgley might seem like an unexpected choice for some. But, trust this writer, he’s a great pick. Badgley’s character Joe in You is quite bland until he’s angered. That’s when you’ll see his mean side. Now, Reed doesn’t have a vindictive side like Joe. What they both have in common is Reed’s seemingly bland personality at times. Especially when he’s explaining anything about science. Picture Badgley doing a monologue from You and replace it with talk about what he created and you have Mr. Fantastic.

Badgley is a fantastic actor capable of bringing any role to life and it goes without saying he could do the same with Mr. Fantastic. Plus, he would look cool stretching in an action scene.

Natalia Dyer would be an interesting choice for Sue Storm. The star shows a lot of protective qualities in Stranger Things. It’s easy to see her bringing all of that to Fantastic Four if someone messes Sue’s with her brother (Johnny Storm), Reed, or her children. She’s also young enough that she could play the Invisible Woman for a long time – something that’s important when Marvel Studios’ creative team thinks about the future of the franchise.

Melissa Benoist could be the perfect pick for Sue Storm. She already has comic book project experience from playing Supergirl. Throughout Supergirl, Benoist showed a toughness that isn’t easy to do. And we’re not just talking about the character’s physical strength – the right CGI can make anyone look tough. When it comes to Benoist, the Girl of Steel continues to be emotionally strong despite the world (and sometimes multiverse) being on the line. If that’s not Sue Storm in a nutshell, this writer doesn’t know what is.
