Loki season 2 is currently in production in the UK and these new set photos reveal some unexpected twists in the Disney Plus show.

Loki was one of the biggest success stories on Disney Plus. The third of the Marvel Studios shows to arrive on the streamer last year, it ultimately became the biggest. A second season seemed inevitable, but given how these shows are often miniseries over series, that wasn’t clear until the announcement came in a post-credits teaser in the season 1 finale.

The series saw Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as the God of Mischief for the first time in a project that didn’t involve Loki’s brother Thor, and it certainly promised to take the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new direction. Among the faces he met in this new adventure were Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie.

Production on Loki season 2 is currently underway in the UK and some set photos have managed to find their way online, suggesting that season 2 will be taking some unexpected twists – particularly for Sylvie.

As reported by ScreenRant, new set photos from Loki season 2 (which can be viewed here in a tweet) feature Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino back in action. What’s interesting about the photos is that, while Hiddleston’s Loki is wearing a slight variation of his TVA outfit from season 1, Sylvie has donned a McDonald’s uniform.

If you remember, the season 1 finale saw Sylvie kill He Who Remains in the hope of getting revenge on everyone who plucked her from a life she could have lived. It had game-changing consequences on the timeline and is considered one of the possible set ups for Kang The Conqueror’s future presence in the MCU.

As for how Sylvie and Loki end up outside what is believed to be a McDonalds in the 1970s, that remains unknown, but we can rest assured that more timeline shenanigans await in season 2.
