Look up in the sky. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Henry Cavill suiting up as Superman? New rumors suggest Cavill could be eyeing a return to the DCEU at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend.

San Diego Comic-Con 2022 is heading our way faster than we can say, Superman. Speaking of the Kryptonian superhero, there are rumors suggesting Henry Cavill could make an appearance at Warner Bros.’s Hall H panel on Saturday, July 23!

For years, fans have wanted nothing more than to see Henry Cavill reprise his role in a Man of Steel sequel. We last saw Cavil suit up as Superman in 2007’s Justice League, although that wasn’t the last time we saw Superman in the DCEU — see Shazam’s ending scene for that gem.

For a while, fans of The Witcher star had little doubt that we’d see Cavill dawn the blue tights and red cape again. After all, there were reports that said Warner Bros was moving on from Cavill. As a matter of fact, several reports suggested WB wanted to replace Clark Kent with Calvin Ellis or Val Zod, a project which was supposed to be helmed by Nehisi Coates and J.J. Abrams — with Michael B. Jordan producing.

With that said, everything can change if the rumors of Cavill’s return come to fruition.

Is Henry Cavill returning as Superman?

San Diego Comic-Con could be the beginning of something great for Superman fans as a new rumor from Deadline suggests Cavill will appear at the Warner Bros. DC panel on July 23.

There’s no doubt we all want to see Cavill return in a Man of Steel sequel, but it could be cool if he suits up in a post-credit scene in Black Adam or Shazam: Fury of Gods. Who knows, maybe we’ll see Cavill’s Superman in the upcoming Flash movie. After all, we are going to see his cousin, Kara, played by Sasha Calle.

The DCEU is hanging on by threads with their original Justice League cast. Of the originals, we have only Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). Having Henry Cavill back would be a breath of fresh air and give fans hope that the DCEU is alive and well.
