Sony’s Madame Web gets a release date for its next Marvel film
By Mark Lynch
Sony Marvel’s Madame Web has suffered some delays, but there is a release date for the newest Spider-Man movie.
Sony’s Marvel movies haven’t had a good go. Mostly because people don’t care about the characters Sony is using without the addition of Spider-Man. With the exception of Venom, the uninformed fan doesn’t know who Morbius or Kraven the Hunter are. However, the one thing that people can’t complain about is the acting.
Kraven the Hunter actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Morbius’ Matt Smith are incredible actors. Following that pattern is Madame Web following in the same footsteps. Among them are Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney, American Horror Story’s Emma Roberts, and 50 Shades of Grey’s Dakota Johnson (who will star in the project). Unfortunately, Madame Web has recently suffered some setbacks. An omen that may spell disaster for Sony’s newest Spider-Man project.
Madame Web release date
Madame Web was originally supposed to be released on April 7, 2023. Right on time to start the momentum into the summer blockbuster season. However, according to comicbook.com, the movie was pushed back to Oct. 6, 2023. A move that will hurt the Sony movie.
Moving Madame Web to October means the movie won’t have any of the momentum going into the summer. Plus, unless it’s a horror flick, October isn’t known for its big-time movies which the Sony project might be. If it is, this could be a great move for Sony.
Although, delays don’t usually mean good things. Look no further than movies like Morbius and New Mutants. Neither of them are well received by the public. Hopefully, this won’t be the case for Madame Web.
