What If season 2 is not coming to Disney Plus in 2022

Despite hopes that What If season 2 might be coming in the final quarter of 2022, Marvel Studios has confirmed the series won’t return this year.

Fans hoping to see the second season of Marvel Studios’ Emmy-nominated animated series Marvel’s What If might want to take a seat before reading this piece because we have some bad news for you. Season 2 of the series will not be coming to Disney Plus this year.

During Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con panel on July 22, Marvel confirmed the second season of its animated Marvel Cinematic Universe-set series will not be released during the second half of 2022. Instead, the series is being held for 2023.

While disappointing, it’s not too surprising as there had been rumbles leading up to the SDCC panel that the show’s second season could be delayed until 2023. Those questions were finally answered at Comic-Con when Marvel Studios revealed to fans that the series will be part of its 2023 slate, not its 2022 programming slate.

What If season 2 release date updates

At this time, Marvel Studios has not confirmed when the second season of What If will release; however, it has been confirmed that the new season will arrive in “early 2023.” With this timeline, it’s likely the new season will drop sometime in the first two quarters of 2023, meaning it is likely the series will drop sometime between January and June 2023.

If we had to take a guess, it seems most likely that the second season will release sometime during the first quarter of the year between January and March. March would look promising should January bring with it a new live-action series as Marvel has tended to release series one at a time instead of consecutively.
