X-Men: Could Moses Ingram be Marvel Studios’ Storm?
By Mark Lynch
Rumors suggest Moses Ingram could appear in a Marvel Studios project. Could she be playing Storm?
Ms. Marvel on Disney Plus gave Marvel Cinematic Universe fans a moment they’ve waited for since Disney announced the acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2017. However, the deal was official three years ago. Nevertheless, we finally heard the word mutant. A significant scene that seemed like it would never come.
Now, here we are. Kamala Khan is the first to be associated with mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Because of that, fans can finally ask something without sounding crazy. The question is, “When are we going to finally see the X-Men?!”
20th Century Fox is the epitome of a rollercoaster ride. They produced seven X-Men movies and three Wolverine and Fantastic Four movies each, Daredevil, The New Mutants and Elektra. Over half of the 16 projects are looked at as either bad or box office failures. Of course, there were major successes like the two Deadpool movies.
The failures caused fans to hope that Marvel’s Mightiest Mutants and First Family would “come home” to Marvel and Disney for a much needed reboot. While a Fantastic Four project is in the works, there’s no word about when the X-Men are coming. That won’t stop the internet from buzzing or rumors from flying. Among them is Queen’s Gambit actress Moses Ingram being looked at for a Marvel Studios project.
Why Moses Ingram should play Storm in the MCU
Moses Ingram only has eight acting credits under her belt. Nevertheless, she’s already made a mark. In 2021, she was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie for Queen’s Gambit. Recently, she played Inquisitor Reva in Obi-Wan Kenobi – a badass who impressed Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. A performer with this kind of potential seems like the right person to play an important member of the X-Men. Could she be set to play a mutant like Storm?
Moses Ingram has everything that you’d want from someone playing Ororo Munroe, a.k.a. Storm. First, she’s a darker skinned Black woman, like Storm in the comics – who has African roots from her mother. Second, and a crucial part, Moses has the acting skill to be the X-Men’s strongest member. When this writer says strongest, it’s more than her omega-level mutant abilities.
When Storm talks, everyone listens. Royalty, villains, even gods take notice when Storm speaks. She doesn’t boast, exaggerate, or say anything that she doesn’t mean. This is why antagonists like Dr. Doom and big time Avengers like Black Panther and Captain America respect her even when they disagree. Her presence is always there. Especially when she’s silent. That means she is paying attention and biding her time.
As of now, Moses’ potential involvement with Marvel Studios is just a rumor. Hopefully, there will be more to it than that and she does join the MCU in the future. She’d be a great addition to the universe, and if this writer had it his way, she’d be a great pick to play Storm.
