Samuel L. Jackson is set to triumphantly return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Disney+ series Secret Invasion, and fans everywhere are most assuredly eager to know more about the exciting endeavor!

Ever since the outstanding first footage was shown at Disney+ Day on November 12, 2021, the upcoming series in the ever-expanding shared universe has been a hugely anticipated affair. The storyline is very popular in the comics, and it will be interesting to see how Marvel integrates it into Phase Five of the MCU.

Filming for Secret Invasion started in London in September 2021 under the working title Jambalaya. The production wrapped on April 25, 2022, and it was reported reshoots took place in mid-June 2022.

Secret Invasion release date predictions

The Disney+ series will release in Spring 2023. The announcement came at San Diego Comic-Con, when it was revealed that it and other upcoming properties would be part of Phase Five, and not Phase Four. TVLine had previously confirmed that Secret Invasion is part of Marvel’s robust 2023 lineup, including Echo, Ironheart, The Marvels, and more.

Reports say there will be a connection to The Marvels film and that Samuel L. Jackson, star of Secret Invasion, will appear in the Captain Marvel sequel and continuation of Ms. Marvel.

How many episodes will there be in Secret Invasion?

The series will consist of six entries with runtimes ranging from 40 to 50 minutes in length. Most Disney+ shows like Moon Knight, Loki, and Hawkeye have six chapters, except for WandaVision, which has nine.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the episodes of Secret Invasion will be directed by Thomas Bezucha, who helmed Let Him Go, and Ali Salim, whose credits include Hulu’s Looming Tower. Remi Adefarasin and Sylvanie Dufaux will be the show’s cinematographers. And the show’s creator, Kyle Bradstreet, who is known for his work on the critically acclaimed series Mr. Robot, is serving as writer and executive producer.

Marvel’s Secret Invasion will see longtime MCU veteran Samuel L. Jackson emerge from the shadows to star in the series as the one and only Nick Fury. Other familiar faces joining him will be Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Don Cheadle as War Machine, and Martin Freeman as Everrett K. Ross.

New additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe starring in Secret Invasion include Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo. It has also been reported that Kingsley Ben-Adir will be in the mix in a mysterious villain role.

What will happen in Secret Invasion?

Secret Invasion will be based on the comic storyline with the same name that was originally published in 2008-09. When discussing the Disney+ original, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige said it would act as a crossover event series that would connect with future titles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the Secret Invasion, a rogue group of Skrulls uses their shapeshifting abilities to impersonate superheroes and infiltrate the Avengers. Their Invasion of Earth has them taking on the real individuals in an epic battle for world domination.

Like most comic book adaptations under the Disney banner, there will likely be many changes to the popular comic book narrative, so fans should expect a refreshing take on the well-received source material.

The group SWORD or Sentient World Observation and Response Department have been previously teased in WandaVision and the post-credits scene for Spider-Man: Far From Home with Fury at the helm of the presumed space station base. So it’s safe to assume the Marvel organization could very well make its official debut in Secret Invasion.

When will the Secret Invasion trailer be released?

The trailer for Secret Invasion has yet to be released by Marvel. But if fans look at past trailer releases compared to their show’s debut, they may be able to come up with a reasonable timetable.

The first official trailer for the series Moon Knight dropped on January 17, 2022, with the series arriving a bit more than two months later. Ms. Marvel’s official trailer came out on March 15, 2022, and was released about three months later, on June 8, 2022.

It might be savvy to assume that the Secret Invasion’s official trailer will air sometime between two to four months before its Spring 2023 release date. But this is just speculation, and fans will have to wait and see when the highly anticipated teaser comes out.
