SDCC: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin sequel is coming
By Mark Lynch
Get excited, fans! A sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is coming in November of 2022!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin was something special. It took the idea Marvel Comics and other comic book companies have used about aged heroes and villains and improved on it. Instead of taking a long time to tell multiple stories, they did it in five issues over the course of a year. Not only did writers Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird tell the story of who the last Ninja Turtle was, they showed how it came to be without the tale becoming too stuffed.
Thankfully, the story isn’t over. It was announced that a sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is on its way. Artist Ben Bishop commented:
"“…believe it or not, even more so than in the original Last Ronin series, the stuff I get to draw in Lost Years is an old-school TMNT kid’s wildest dream come true! I’m so excited to get the gang back together again so we can expand even more on this world we’ve been building—not only in Last Ronin, but in the TMNT universe as a whole…”"
As reported by ComicBook.com, the press release for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin – The Lost Years says, “Lost Years digs deeper into the world of the Ronin-verse, adding breadth and scope to one of TMNT’s most ravenously devoured, widely beloved, and critically acclaimed entries of all time.”
It’s true. Fans all over the world loved the series and couldn’t wait to find out who the last Ninja Turtle was. It was so good that people didn’t want to spoil the surprise for other readers. And we all know how people online love spoilers.
As of now, not much is known about the return of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin other than the fact that it’s expanding the Last Ronin universe. That means fans could get more stories about the Ninja Turtles, April O’Neil, April’s daughter Casey Marie Jones, and the turtles who could be the successors to Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael. We already know April and Casey Marie will be like Splinter to the new group, but who will their villain be? More will be revealed as time goes on or when the series continues.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin — The Lost Years is scheduled to be released in November of 2022.
