Stranger Things season 5 is not coming to Netflix in 2022

Stranger Things season 5 could be the most anticipated TV show in the world right now, but don’t expect new episodes of the series to arrive on Netflix this year.

Words can’t describe just how popular Stranger Things is. If we had to use words, though, we could talk about how the show returned from a three-year hiatus and broke Netflix records (and nearly broke the streaming service too!). Yes, it’s that popular.

It’s also that good, with many believing that season 4 was one of the show’s best seasons yet. Subtitled “The beginning of the end”, both parts of the fourth season set the stage nicely for Stranger Things season 5 – the show’s final season.

No one wants the popular series to end, but there is no doubt that it will go out on a high. The only downside to that is that there might be a bit of a wait for new episodes. Of course, it will be worth the wait, but we’ll warn you now: Don’t be expect Stanger Things season 5 to premiere in 2022.

When is Stranger Things season 5 coming out?

Stranger Things season 5 won’t be premiering on Netflix in 2022. While both volumes of season 4 were released this year, and the show is indeed renewed for a fifth season, production on the new season has not yet begun, meaning that there will be some time before it makes its presence felt on the streaming service.

The Duffer Brothers are very hopeful that there won’t be as long a wait as there was between seasons 3 and 4, so you can relax knowing that you won’t need to wait three years to see how the Hawkins / Upside Down saga ends. That said, a one-year wait is inevitable, and a two-year wait might be more likely.

A 2023 release isn’t totally impossible, but given the scope of Stranger Things – and how the show has gotten progressively bigger each season – and taking both production and post-production time into account, a 2024 release is the most likely possibility for the final season’s release right now.
