On the heels of Warner Bros. Discovery shelving its Batgirl film, a new rumor suggests the Sasha Calle-led Supergirl film is also not moving forward.

The punches just keep coming to DC Comics fans.

Less than 48 hours after news broke that Warner Bros. Discovery had opted not to proceed with its previously announced Batgirl movie, reports are surfacing that the studio is planning on scrapping yet another high-profile feature film.

According to a report from Rolling Stonesinsiders are reporting Warner Bros. Discovery is unlikely to proceed with the Supergirl film starring Sasha Calle. The character is still expected to appear in the upcoming Flash movie — should it live to see the light of day — but the spinoff centering around Calle’s character is not expected to proceed.

Is the Supergirl movie still happening?

Sadly, it does not appear as though Warner Bros. Discovery has decided not to proceed with the previously announced Supergirl film. We’d like to say there is a chance that the decision could change, but it’s looking unlikely as Discovery seems set on cutting projects for the sake of saving a few bucks –regardless of whether the project was complete.

It’s unclear what the decision could mean for the character’s future beyond the standalone movie, but it’s not looking likely we’ll see Calle suit up as Supergirl beyond her appearance in Thr Flash.

With Supergirl no longer proceeding, it becomes the latest in a string of DC Comics projects to be shelved as a result of the Warner Bros. sale — though it’s unlikely to be the last.
