Will Tenoch Huerta’s Namor be a mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever? If he isn’t, Marvel missed a huge opportunity.

The trailer of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever gave audiences glimpses of Tenoch Huerta as the Prince of Atlantis, Namor the Submariner. From the small sample size, Tenoch Huerta looks amazing in the role, having the presence that you’d want from Namor. He looked incredibly regal walking out of the water. All fans need is to see the character be arrogant and ruthless and Huerta will be everything that Marvel Comics readers want from Namor. Well, almost everything. There’s one more thing he should be. The Submariner needs to be a mutant.

In Marvel Comics, Namor is looked at as the first mutant. Technically, it’s true. The X-Men didn’t make their comic book debut until 1963 while Namor has been around since 1939. That makes him the first mutant in real life. However, the recent X-Men comics have shown that Apocalypse and the mutants of Arrako have been around centuries longer than him. Regardless of who was first, Namor being a mutant could be another huge step in bringing mutants to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
