Superman and Lois season 3 is not coming to The CW in 2022

Superman and Lois season 3 won’t be on screens any time in the near future. 

In its two seasons on the air, Superman and Lois has become a fixture of The CW. The beloved Arrowverse adjacent series features Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch in the title roles, reprising them from earlier appearances on Supergirl, in a new adventure that focuses on the Kent-Lanes as established hero reporters trying to raise two teenage boys in Smallville. And it has quickly become a fan-favorite part of both that universe and the entire superhero genre.

The show’s second season wrapped its run on The CW in June, having taken a number of lengthy hiatuses through the past six months. Needless to say, it’s been very well-received by critics, with it being clear that the show recaptured the magic from its incredible first season. It also resulted in the show getting six nominations at the Saturn Awards.

If you’re excited for the third season, however, you might have to wait some time. The CW has unveiled its fall schedule for the 2022 – 2023 TV season and Superman and Lois season 3 is not listed on it.

That said, when can fans expect it to air?

Superman and Lois season 3 will premiere on The CW in early 2023. An exact date has yet to be announced, but it’s highly likely that the show will debut some time between January and March (at the very latest).

The first season premiered towards the end of February in 2021 while the second arrived in early January 2022, so it’s clear that Superman and Lois has become a firm fan-favorite of the midseason schedule. With that in mind, it’s understandable that The CW has decided to hold it until then for the third time (even if the absence of its biggest show on the fall line-up is a bit risky).

There were some worries that the show would be cancelled after Warner Bros. Discovery’s infamous axing of the already-completed Batgirl film and the reshuffling of their HBO Max line-up, but Superman and Lois remains one of The CW’s two biggest shows and it has already been renewed for a third season. Thus, its future is safe for now.

Yes, another wait looms for new episodes of Superman and Lois, but if we’ve come to learn anything from this show, it’s that it’s always worth the wait!
