Following a string of allegations, Ezra Miller has released an apology via a new statement released to Variety.

Ezra Miller has been in the public eye for a running slew of criminal allegations, including a felony burglary in Vermont, caught on camera allegedly choking a woman outside of a bar in Iceland, which went viral. Other allegations include multiple accusations of physical and verbal abuse, theft, breaking and entering, harassment, and child endangerment.

It’s clear to note that the constant allegations did become a snowball effect that reflected negatively on WB Discovery, leading to the studio’s decision to cut the actor from the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Ezra Miller apology

In a statement provided to Variety by a member of Miller’s representative team. The actor has officially broken their silence and publicly announced they are “seeking treatment for complex mental health issues.” The statement reads as follows:

"“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”"

The embattled actor who is non-binary and goes by they/them pronouns is best known for their portrayal of the DC comics character Barry Allen/The Flash, who first appeared in the DCEU in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

Their performance in the shared film continuity has been overshadowed by their off-screen behavior, which has raised areas of concern with not only friends and family of the actor, but with Warner Bros as well, who is the studio behind The Flash and currently holds the DC film IP.

Variety did confirm in their report that “a source close to the studio says that Warner Bros. supports Miller’s decision to seek professional help.”

As this article is being written, The Flash is still currently slated for a theatrical release. Multiple outlets and insiders have reported that the film will serve as a vital entry regarding the future of the DCEU.

Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav confirmed the studio is committed to many theatrical releases for DC films, including The Flash, telling investors on an earnings call, “We’ve seen them. We think they are terrific, and we think we can make them even better.”

The Flash races to theaters on June 23, 2023.
