When does The Walking Dead return in 2022?
The Walking Dead season 11 will resume its run later this year, but how much longer do fans need to wait for new episodes of the AMC series?
It’s been great to have The Walking Dead back on screens this year, hasn’t it?
However, the veteran AMC zombie show once again bowed out for another midseason break in April. This is the second break, with the first one coming not long after its eleventh season premiered back in August. It returned in February. But now, after airing another eight episodes, it has taken another lengthy break before it airs any new episodes.
Fans of the show are eager to spend as much time with it and its characters as possible. After all, season 11 is The Walking Dead‘s final season, meaning that its lengthy run will come to a close later this year.
First, we have to see new episodes. But when will the show be back for its final stint?
When will The Walking Dead season 11 episode 17 air?
The Walking Dead season 11 returns to AMC on Sunday, October 2, 2022. The announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con (the show’s final panel at the event), with a trailer teasing fans what they can expect from the final eight episodes.
AMC usually swapped both TWD and spin-off Fear The Walking Dead around, using the latter to replace the former whenever it went off air for a break. Viewers hoped that, since Fear replaced its parent series one more time this season, airing the remainder of its seventh season from April through June, that The Walking Dead season 11 would return sometime in the summer. However, AMC opted for a fall release instead, confirming it in a trailer before the official date was announced at SDCC.
When the final season does reach its conclusion, it will be the ending an era of TV (and will also potentially be setting up at least one of the three in-development spin-offs).
