An Easter egg in She-Hulk episode 2 seems to have just confirmed Wolverine’s existence within the MCU courtesy a not-so-subtle reference to the X-Men hero.

From the moment Disney finalized its deal to purchase 20th Century FOX, fans have been anxiously awaiting the X-Men’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — and understandably so.

While the X-Men films 20th Century released over the years were iconic in their own rights, the thought of seeing the X-Men finally fighting alongside the heroes of the MCU is something that comic book fans once thought would only ever be a dream.

Although it’s been a few years now since Disney acquired 20th Century, we’ve yet to see any of the X-Men make their MCU debuts — sans Professor X’s incredible cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessAs such, fans have been left to speculate over who might enter the MCU first and just how certain characters might enter the fold.

Among the heroes that fans can’t stop talking about is one of the X-Men’s most iconic characters: Wolverine.

Fans can’t wait to see Wolverine enter the MCU and there have been many discussions regarding which actor should take on the role when the time finally comes to introduce him in the MCU. And while it remains unclear who Marvel might turn to play the character, Marvel Studios seems to have finally confirmed Wolverine does exist in the MCU via a brilliantly placed Easter egg in the second episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

She-Hulk Wolverine Easter egg explained

After losing her job at the DA’s office when her She-Hulk persona is revealed to the world, Jen does what any unemployed individual would do and quickly begins a search for a new job. While browsing one website, Marvel offers fans a peek at Jen’s screen which is when we the creative team dropped a major Wolverine-sized Easter egg in our laps!

In a more stories section on the website Jen is browsing, there is an article titled “Man fights with metal claws in bar brawl.” While no individual is directly named, the title seems to be a direct reference to Wolverine and his iconic Adamantium claws.

It also seems like no coincidence that this metal-clawed man was involved in a bar fight, as Wolverine has been known to throw fists in bar fights. In fact, the very first X-Men movie released by 20th Century featured an iconic bar fight scene involving Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

Does Wolverine exist in the MCU?

While he’s not yet been mentioned by name, Wolverine does seem to appear in the MCU as hinted at by the website article title featured in the second episode of She-Hulk. Although the character was not mentioned by name, there’s no way Marvel just happens to include an Easter egg referring to a man with metal claws and not expect fans to connect the dots by jumping right to the most famous clawed hero in all of comics.

It’s also a brilliant way to hint that the X-Men might already be out there in a yet-to-be-explored corner of the MCU. The Easter egg is the second major X-Men Easter Egg to be snuck into a Disney Plus original series following the use of the X-Men 97 theme in the season finale of Ms. Marvel.

Clearly, Marvel is paving the way for the X-Men’s formal introduction in the MCU and we can’t wait to see what other Easter eggs might await us in the meantime!
