Star Wars: Millie Bobby Brown stuns as Princess Leia in jaw-dropping image
By Cody Schultz
Fans are hoping to see Millie Bobby Brown play Princess Leia if the role is ever recast for The Mandalorian or other Star Wars projects and it’s not hard to see why.
When it comes to the Star Wars franchise, there are far characters more iconic than Princess Leia Organa. Leia has long been regarded as one of the greatest leaders, most fearless warriors, strongest advocate of justice, and overall empowering characters in the entire franchise — and arguably in pop culture.
While it’s unimaginable to picture anyone other than the late Carrie Fisher in the role of Leia, it seems unlikely Lucasfilm will leave the character on the sideline when looking ahead to the future of the Star Wars movie franchise.
We’ve already seen Leia take center stage in other mediums including a handful of novels that have followed the character at various times in her life, times not explored in the cinematic franchise. We’ve also seen Lucasfilm bring other classic characters back into the fold most notably with the return of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker.
Hamill’s involvement in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, it seems like only a matter of time before Lucasfilm decides to revisit some of its other iconic characters such as Leia — after all, you don’t leave one of your most beloved characters on the bench indefinitely.
Bringing the character back into the Star Wars cinematic fold will be a daunting task for Lucasfilm, but if Leia is to make her return with a new actress stepping into the role we can’t think of a better actress than Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown to play her!
What Millie Bobby Brown could look like as Princess Leia in The Mandalorian
From the moment Millie Bobby Brown first broke into the spotlight with her starring role as Eleven in Netflix’s tentpole drama, fans couldn’t help but recognize the likeness she shared with a young Fisher.
It didn’t take long before buzz began regarding whether Brown could possibly join the Star Wars franchise and thanks to a piece of incredible new fan art we have the chance to see just what the young actress could look like as Leia if given the chance.
Inspired by watching Brown in Stranger Things, artist ApexForm transforms Leia into Princess Leia by blending together an iconic shot of a young Fisher and Brown with help from editing technology with no detail spared.
As we’ve seen before in incredible fan-made DeepFake videos, there is absolutely no denying how much Brown favors a young Fisher so clearly there would be no valid arguments to be had over whether she looks the part. However, it’s her incredible acting chops that make her the perfect actress to pick up the Leia mantle should Lucasfilm choose to bring the character back into the fold in the future.
Will Millie Bobby Brown play Princess Leia in Star Wars?
Brown is one of the most talented young actresses in the industry and has proven she can carry a high-profile franchise. She’s also expressed interest in the chance to play a young Leia in a Star Wars title should Disney ever choose to reexplore the character’s younger years.
During an appearance at the Rhode Island Comic Con back in 2016, Brown was asked what kind of role she’d love to tackle at some point in her career. When answering the question, Brown revealed that she would love to have the opportunity to play Princess Leia telling those in attendance:
"“Princess Leia. If they made – I think they are making another Star Wars – I would love a role like that. Because I want to do something far from Eleven or Madison.”"
At this time, Lucasfilm has not announced any plans to bring Leia back into the fold within The Mandalorian or any other live-action projects in development. That said, there is no denying Brown would be a perfect pick to succeed the late Carrie Fisher.
Let’s just hope Lucasfilm and Disney take notice and make fans’ dreams a reality!
