More delays for DC films confirmed (which DCEU films are delayed?)
By Matthew Roth
More delays for the DCEU as both DC films Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom have been pushed back.
In what has been a very up and down few weeks for Warner Bros. Discovery it appears we have more bad news. Shazam! Fury of the Gods, initially set to release on December 21, 2022 has now been moved to March 17, 2023. The date was previously held by fellow DCEU movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which will be moving as well.
David F. Sandberg tweeted “While I’m an impatient b*stard who wants people to see it as soon as possible, the move makes sense since Avatar was taking all IMAX/PLF screens. Fury of the Gods is a big movie & should be seen big!” The move certainly makes sense since the sequel to Avatar has been one of the most highly anticipated films for the last decade since it was announced.
Additionally, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which was set to release on March 17, 2023 has been pushed back to December 25, 2023. This will certainly allow James Wan more time to put any finishing touches on the film should he need to still and hopefully provide a better film.
Yet DC fans have been having a rough go at it lately with the recent shelving of Batgirl and Warner Bros. Discovery announcing a massive amount of other cancellations and changes in content.
There is still hope as Joker: Folie à Deux is moving forward for a 2024 release and Matt Reeves just inked a massive deal which all but confirms a sequel to 2022’s The Batman will be moving forward. And there have been rumors that Ben Affleck may be returning to a more prominent role within the DECU.
We also can look forward to Black Adam releasing October 21st, 2022, and The Flash in 2023. 2023 may be a massive year yet for DC fans and movies alike.
What do you think of the changes in the DC movie calendar? Let us know!
