Stranger Things season 5 episode count is shorter than fans hoped

The Stranger Things writers have hinted at the Stranger Things season 5 episode count… which is shorter than many fans had hoped it might be.
From the moment Stranger Things season 4 part 2 dropped this July, fans have been anxiously awaiting news on the show’s upcoming fifth and final season — and with good reason.
Season 4 ended with a major cliffhanger that has fans wondering how exactly the show will come to an end as the Duffer Brothers look to bring their masterpiece to a close.
With just one season left, the writers have a lot of work ahead of them as they look to craft an ending that will tie up the show’s key storylines and stick the landing.
While fans had hoped the show’s final season might be its largest yet to give the writers enough time to tie up the show’s key storylines, the actual Stranger Things season 5 episode count is a tad shorter than fans had been hoping for.
How episodes will be in Stranger Things season 5?
The final season of Stranger Things is expected to consist of just eight episodes, which is down an episode from the show’s fourth season. The season 5 episode count was seemingly confirmed by the Stranger Things writers in a tweet showcasing the season’s grid stage.
In the photo, we can see a grid that seems to be created to begin plotting out the season’s stories. While the board is blank in the image — come one, you didn’t think they’d show off their cards, did you? — it offers up a major clue of what’s to come in the final season by showcasing that the writers seem to be planning for an eight-episode season.

The news that the season is going to consist of eight episodes is news that has sent fans into a frenzy as they’re not at all excited about the prospect of the show’s final season only consisting of eight episodes.
“Also why eight episodes??? We’re going to be waiting for probably a year or two for a new season and we get eight episodes only?” commented one annoyed fan. “So I’m assuming there’s another board for the other 8 episodes right?” added another fan in clear denial about the final season’s shorter episode count.
The only thing we can hope for if season 5 ends up consisting of only eight episodes, it’s that the episodes might again be on the longer side of the spectrum.
Are you disappointed that Stranger Things season 5 is expected to only be eight episodes? How many episodes would you be your dream episode count for the final season?
