20 Marvel and Disney characters who deserve their own Disney Plus shorts
By Mark Lynch
3. Thanos
How long has Thanos been feared? Who was the first being he killed and why? How did he eventually become the scourge of the universe? When was he named the Mad Titan? These are only some of the questions that need answering.
Getting Josh Brolin back for a sequence of shorts may be difficult. The good news would be that he may not be needed. What f Marvel Studios gave us animated shorts instead, in which Thanos wouldn’t have to speak. He’s terrifying without uttering a word and his silent smile is scarier. Witnessing even some of his life will be informative and frightening.
2. Wong
Wong has been fantastic since Doctor Strange. He has continued to be so whenever he has appeared in subsequent Marvel projects. More than that, Wong has shown that he’s worthy of the title Sorcerer Supreme and that he’s an excellent teacher. But what does he do when he isn’t at the Sanctum Sanctorum or Kamar-Taj?
Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Rings showed that he fights for money and maybe to help The Abomination with his rage. He has to do more than that. Let’s see what else Wong gets into for fun and when he’s helping people.
1. Deadpool
While this list wasn’t put in an order, the Merc with a Mouth is No. 1 for a reason. No one on here would have more versatility than him in a series of shorts. Of course there are his missions. They made him famous. Wade Wilson’s mercenary jobs are always full of shenanigans. During his assignments, he’d make tons of jokes and creatively attack people. This is what would bring people in. It’s what the viewers would want. However, the deeper moments will keep them coming back for more.
Wade Wilson’s life is a tragedy. He’s been through more devastating moments than anyone except Wolverine. Cancer is only part of his agonizing life story. He held the mother of his daughter while she was dead in a ditch (“The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”), erased his memory to protect his daughter (Gerry Duggan’s final issue of Deadpool ), and of course there’s also the depression, loss of family and friends (pretty much every Deadpool series) and everything else he has been through.
If anyone deserves a series of animated shorts on Disney Plus, it’s definitely Marvel Comics’ Deadpool. It would allow Marvel Studios to show us every side of Deadpool and explore how he became the anti-hero that he is.
