DC’s Stargirl season 3 premiered on The CW tonight and it had some pretty disastrous consequences for one Blue Valley regular. Is this the end for them?

Look out world, Stargirl is back! The CW show returned to TV with some pretty high stakes and shocking consequences for one Blue Valley resident.

The season premiere, “Frenemies: Chapter One – The Murder”, kicked off season 3’s much-anticipated murder mystery. Before that, though, it showed us what all of our beloved characters were getting up to during the summer break between seasons.

But Courtney Whitmore and her family weren’t the only ones returning to Blue Valley after some time away, as The Gambler made an unanticipated comeback to town. The former Injustice Society villain wasn’t back to cause trouble, no. He was in search of a daughter he just discovered he had. Unfortunately, his time back in Blue Valley was briefer than he expected.

Is The Gambler really dead in Stargirl season 3?

The closing scene of the season 3 premiere saw Cindy Burman standing over The Gambler’s body after a gunshot was heard. The Justice Society of America had been cautious when it came to their new recruit and she had given them every reason to doubt her, but did she really kill The Gambler?

For starters, we have to acknowledge the sad truth: Yes, it seems that The Gambler is dead. The episode may not have confirmed that, but it is titled “The Murder” and it is the launch of the season’s murder mystery. It seems that The Gambler was the chosen victim.

As for who committed the murder, that remains to be seen, but let’s just say that there is more than one suspect. Guess we’ll have to wait until episode 2, “The Suspects” for some answers.

Stargirl season 3 airs on The CW every Wednesday night at 8/7c.
