4. Retcon the DCEU, don’t reboot it

A sense of continuity matters when it comes to comic book movies. The MCU proved that. Reports surfaced that Warner Bros execs regretted releasing the Snydercut of Justice League, fearing it put pressure on the studio to continue Zack Snyder’s vision. That’s not a bad thing. No, Warner Bros. Discovery doesn’t have to continue Snyder’s vision in terms of his end game. They should, however, retcon the Snyderverse.

Man of Steel was the foundation that set the tone for the DCEU. Some argue it’s one of the better origin stories for Superman. No matter what side you fall on, MoS set up a few things, including Supergirl with an Easter Egg of a second Kryptonian ship.

He also gave us a veteran Batman and Wonder Woman, who were the co-founders of the Justice League that featured Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg. Snyder’s version of the DCEU was referenced in Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam. In fact, even Peacemaker referenced the same characters Snyder set up. So why reboot it?

The best option for Lin is to retcon Snyder’s vision and continue with the same actors and overall tone. As a matter of fact, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will continue to use a storyline that may just Ben Affleck’s Batman with Aquaman.
