Rick and Morty premiered on TV in 2013 and it has gotten even more popular as it’s gone on. What seems like a ridiculous show full of wacky characters, interdimensional shenanigans, and over the top violence can sometimes become thought provoking. The season 5 finale is a perfect example of this.

Fans finally saw what happened to Rick Sanzhez and why he’s an angry, bitter drunk. Seeing his wife and daughter killed is enough to make anyone lose their minds. There was also the war and Bird Person not having the same feelings for Rick as Rick had for him. It was a long heartbreaking existence. With season 5 ending with Rick and Morty escaping the Citadel of Ricks before it explodes, it’s likely that season 6 will begin right where it 5 left off.

Rick and Morty season 6 expectations

Rick and Morty will continue to give you everything that made the show popular. You’ll see all sorts of weird beings that we haven’t seen before. The people creating the goofy looking aliens, subterranean horses, and more have done a fantastic job. Popular characters like Mr. Poopybutthole, Birdperson, and Mr. Nimbus will likely return as well. And, with one episode being called “Bethic Twinstinct” we can expect to see the clone (or real) Beth Smith return from space.

Lastly, look for more growth from Morty. There’s no way he wasn’t affected by what his evil counterpart said. Plus, little by little, Mort has seen that Rick is more selfish than he realizes. Rick may be growing as a person, but he can’t get over his anger and self-pity.

Morty has defied Rick and tried to hurt him on more than a few occasions. This is a trend that will continue. Season 6 may end with Morty giving Rick a blow that scars him forever.

How to watch Rick and Morty

As Rick and Morty is an Adult Swim-exclusive series, the season 6 premiere can be viewed on TV on the Adult Swim channel itself. They are also expected to be made available on Adult Swim’s website. While not yet confirmed, it is believed that it will stream on HBO Max and Hulu the following day as that is what happened with season 5.
