If you’re hoping to see The Boys season 4 take flight on Amazon Prime Video in September 2022, I’m afraid I have some bad news for you.

While there are a lot of amazing titles coming to Amazon Prime Video across the month of September, one title you won’t see dropping among the month’s releases is the fourth season of the streamer’s Emmy-nominated superhero drama The Boys.

As disappointing as it is not to be getting the new season this month, it’s not too surprising given filming on season 4 has only just recently begun.

Instead, we’ll just have to keep waiting for the next batch of episodes and enjoy some of this month’s other new additions which include Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Thursday Night Football and Flight/Risk.

The Boys season 4 release date updates

At this time, Amazon has not confirmed when The Boys season 4 will be released but it’s looking likely the earliest we could see the new season arrive would be in Summer 2023.

Filming on season 4 kicked off in late August with production beginning on the fourth season of The Boys as cast and crew returned to begin filming. With production having only just begun, filming is likely to unfold for several weeks likely unfolding until close to the end of the year.

Should filming wrap by the end of the year, Amazon should then have time to prepare the episodes in post-production in time to release the next batch of episodes sometime in 2023. We’ve seen new seasons premiere in June, July and September, so it’s likely Amazon will drop the new season sometime in the second half of 2023.
