Disney Plus Day 2022 schedule: All the Marvel news you should watch out for
Disney Plus Day 2022 is upon us and Marvel fans are hoping for some big announcements. What reveals are fans anticipating?
It’s once again time to celebrate the contributions of the Disney Plus streaming service to the world of entertainment. Yes, it’s almost been three years since the platform launched and it has produced so much epic original content since then that it’s hard to remember a time before it existed. And now, we look to its future.
Disney Plus Day will be a day in which the studio teases fans with announcements and reveals about future titles on the service, so it goes without saying that anticipation is high – especially when it comes to Marvel and Star Wars, as those two franchises are among the streaming service’s most lucrative.
Speaking of Marvel Studios, what announcements are fans hoping for at the event?
Disney Plus Day start time
Disney Plus Day technically kicks off at midnight on the West Coast, with a host of new titles arriving on Disney Plus at 12:01 a.m. PT, 3:01 a.m. ET, and 2:01 a.m. CT. Among those new titles is Thor: Love and Thunder, which makes its streaming debut a little outside of its typical 45-day theatrical release window.
There will be more announcements and reveals throughout the day. While Disney will confirm when that is to take place later in the day, fans are expecting them to kick off around 9:00 a.m. ET (6:00 a.m. PT/8:00 a.m. CT) as that’s when it all began last year.
What Marvel announcements are rumored for Disney Plus Day?
The big draw of Disney Plus Day when it comes to Marvel is undoubtedly the arrival of Thor: Love and Thunder. Released in cinemas earlier this year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie makes its debut on the streaming service as soon as the day kicks off.
As far as Marvel announcements go, the biggest ones will likely be held until the D23 Expo on Saturday when Kevin Fiege himself is expected to make some more major MCU reveals. That doesn’t entirely rule out Disney Plus Day though.
With that in mind, the most likely reveals could revolve around the untitled Halloween Special (rumored to be Werewolf By Night), The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, X-Men ’97 and I Am Groot.
One thing we also shouldn’t rule out is the potential for more MCU Disney Plus shows being announced. Last year’s event saw the announcement of many new titles, including Agatha: House of Harkness (which has now been retitled Agatha: Coven of Chaos), so it’s possible this year’s event could do the same – perhaps setting the stage for D23 to make even bigger announcements this weekend.
