Trying to figure out what exactly happened in the Thor: Love and Thunder end credit scene? Fear not, we’re here to help break the scene down!

Thor: Love and Thunder is now streaming on Disney Plus and the fourth film in the Thor franchise packs quite the power punch. While critics seem a bit divided, audiences are loving the film which brings back all of our favorite Thor characters including the highly anticipated return of Natalie Portman as Dr. Jane Foster!

There is so much to love about the film including its two stunning post-credit scenes which might be two of the strongest post-credits sequences we’ve seen from any of the movies in Phase 4.

While the first post-credit scene did an amazing job of teasing what’s to come next for the franchise with the introduction of an iconic new character, the end credit scene provided closure to one of the main plotlines from the film.

Thor: Love and Thunder end credit scene explained

The second post-credit scene in Thor: Love and Thunder is directly connected to a major storyline from the film involving Jane Foster, so before we get into the details about what the second post-credit scene means it’s important to recap those events first.

Upon being re-introduced to Jane, we discover she’s suffering from stage four cancer and things aren’t looking good for her. While attempting to find a cure for her cancer, Jane dives into her research which eventually leads her to New Asgard where the shattered pieces of Mjolnir seem to call out to her.

When she approaches the fragments of the hammer, it begins to reassemble and gives her the ability to transform into Mighty Thor. While wielding the hammer gives her god-like abilities, it leads to a rapid deterioration of her health. Sadly, during the final act of the film, Jane succumbs to her cancer after helping Thor destroy the Necrosword.

After dying in Thor’s arms, it looks like we’ve seen the last of Jane Foster; however, the second post-credit scene proved us wrong with a really special scene that confirmed Jane made it to Valhalla.

In the scene, Jane materializes in a picturesque paradise where she is greeted by Heimdall, who confirms that she has died, thanks her for protecting her son then welcomes her to Valhalla. Our last glimpse of Jane in the scene is of her looking around taking everything in, a wide smile on her face as the screen fades to black.
