Kim Kardashian said she’d appear in a Marvel Studios project and not only is that ok, she could help the franchise she appears in.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be the most popular franchise in the world. It’s certainly surpassed fandoms like Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and so many more. A debate can be made on how long it will remain on top. As of now, it’s looking like Marvel Studios will be running the world of movies for a long time. Add Disney Plus to the mix and they’ll have a stranglehold on streaming services as well. This is why people in all parts of pop culture want in on the MCU.
Mega-star Harry Styles made his MCU debut in Eternals and will play Thanos’ charismatic brother Starfox. Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth play actors performing as Thor and Loki in the previous two Thor movies. Recently, Megan Thee Stallion was on She-Hulk Attorney at Law (which caused people to lose their minds). They won’t be the last celebrities to appear in a Marvel Studios project. In fact, Kim Kardashian could be next.
In an interview with Interview Magazine (H/T: comicbook.com), Kim Kardashian was asked if she had any plans of acting in the future. The pop culture icon responded, “Would I act? I would if something fun came about. Maybe a Marvel movie, that would be so fun to do. I’m not actively looking, but I think things just come when they’re supposed to,”
Of course, people who call themselves “comic book purists” hate the idea. They’ll say things like, “She’s ruining comic books as we know it!” However, not only is that not true, but celebrities have been in comic book projects before.
Let’s go back to the 1990s. Vanilla Ice was in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secret of the Ooze. A scene that’s still looked at favorably. Fast forward to the first MCU movie. Wu Tang’s Ghostface Killah was in a deleted scene in the first Iron Man movie. There are the others who’ve appeared in actual comic books. Muhammad Ali fought Superman, Eminem was in a Punisher comic book, and the Hellfire Gala had everyone from John Hamm to Conan O’Brien. So this would be nothing new.
Is Kim Kardashian the most popular person among people who read comic books? Probably not. However, she’s one of the most famous people in the world. If she’s in a Marvel project, her fans will make sure they see it and talk about it. Those views bring money and ratings. Both are needed for a project to succeed. So, bring Kim Kardashian into the MCU. However, she can’t play Storm.
