3. Shi’ar

One of the most famous stories in Marvel Comics’ history is the Dark Phoenix Saga. 20th Century Fox tried to produce it on two occasions. They failed both times. There were a lot of glaring problems with both of those movies. Beyond the story being rushed, the biggest issue was the villains.

The first time, X-Men: The Last Stand, it was Magneto (again). He wasn’t needed or part of the original story. Adding him to it seemed weird. Dark Phoenix was a mess from start to finish, but the Vuks as villains was uninspired. They were an alien species that was completely forgettable. Even huge Marvel Comics fans forgot about them. The creative team should have brought in the Shi’ar.

With the rights back in the hands of Marvel Studios, The Dark Phoenix Saga won’t be rushed if they decide to tell that story. It can be a movie, a show streamed on Disney Plus, or both. This way, the tale can be told properly. Part of doing this right is using the Shi’ar. Their involvement is the biggest part of the story. It would be like trying to tell the Marvel Civil War comic book story without Captain America and Iron Man. It just doesn’t work. Like Secret Invasion, Disney Plus could produce a mini series surrounding the Shi’ar. This will help viewers know who they are and what they can do.

Hopefully, Marvel Studios will involve the Shi’ar in the future. There are too many creative looking members of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard to not have them on screen.
