Iceman – Bobby Drake

Bobby Drake’s story would take some tweaking for sure. He doesn’t have the same tragic backstory as Cyclops, but he was the second recruit of Professor X. That could be why the original X-Men trilogy opted to make him a side character and toss him into a romance with Rogue.

Anyway, for the series, his story could see him as a young mutant trying to live a normal life with a secret. In the comics, his parents knew who he was and helped to keep his secret. Bobby is a bit of a class clown. The show could use this to its advantage.

We could see the coming-of-age story of a boy who is sure of himself. A popular kid in high school who gets along with everyone — that’s because they don’t know his secret. Put Bobby in a compromising position that forces him to use his powers. When the people find out, they all turn against him and his well-liked family. Like the comics, some bad people break into his house, forcing him to do the unthinkable.

Professor X could show up toward the end and use his political clout to take Bobby in before the Shieff could ship him off to a mystery encampment owned by Essex. He’ll butt heads with the more serious Cyclops which will make for an interesting dynamic.
