Doom Patrol season 4 is not coming to HBO Max in October 2022
Doom Patrol season 4 is one of the most anticipated DC shows of the year. Unfortunately, it won’t debut on HBO Max in October.
It’s a strange time for DC TV. The dominant form of superhero television for close to a decade, there has been a major shift this year due to both the cancellation of three DC shows on The CW and the Warner Bros. Discovery merger impacting HBO Max.
Doom Patrol belongs to the latter, jumping over to the streaming service when the DC Universe streamer shut down in 2021. Its second season debuted on both DCU and HBO Max before its third became an HBO Max original. And, yes, in spite of the uncertainty surrounding HBO Max, a fourth season is on the way.
It had been some time since there were any significant updates regarding Doom Patrol season 4, and that certainly lent itself to the concern fans had for both it and its fellow DC TV properties. However, recent updates have confirmed that, while the fourth season is still happening, it won’t be coming in the next month.
October will belong to Pennyworth season 3, it seems as the Batman prequel will make itself at home as an HBO Max original for the first time. Meanwhile, Titans season 4 will premiere in November. The good news for Doom Patrol fans is that their favorite show will come the month after that.
Doom Patrol season 4 release date predictions
Doom Patrol season 4 will be released in December 2022. An official release date has yet to be announced, but you wouldn’t be wrong to assume that it will come earlier in the month to give the season a good chance to kick off its run before the holiday period.
The news came from the show’s official Twitter account, which also revealed that the fourth season will feature Madeline Zima as Casey Brinke, a.k.a. Space Case. The character is a significant part of the Doom Patrol comics, playing quite the role in Gerard Way and Nick Derington’s run.
While this has caused some concern that season 4 might be the show’s final outing, it could just be another sign that Doom Patrol always gives the fans what they want.
