Werewolf by Night age rating: Is the Marvel special suitable for kids?
Werewolf by Night arrives on Disney Plus as a Halloween Special from Marvel Studios, but it’s not like the previous MCU shows.
The Marvel Studios shows have made a huge impact on the Disney Plus streaming service, the superhero genre, and the television landscape in general over the last year. They have also signalled a new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the small screen.
That evolution continues with Werewolf by Night. The first seasonal special from the MCU (but not the last), it brings to life the first of Marvel Comics’ monsters. And it’s really quite something, living up to its title character’s adventures on the page and paying tribute to many a classic monster movies through its retro black-and-white approach.
With every new experiment Marvel takes, there comes the question of whether it will be as accessible as its predecessors. Werewolf by Night is a major step into the horror genre for Marvel Studios, so what does that mean about for its accessibility to younger viewers? Is it suitable?
Werewolf by Night age rating
Werewolf by Night is rated TV-14. Television projects with this particular age rating contain some mature themes, so parents should be cautious as they can be unsuitable for children under the age of 14.
In Werewolf by Night‘s case, the mature content comes in the form of gore and violence, scary and horror elements, and occasional bad language.
If you’ve watched the trailer for Werewolf by Night, this probably won’t be a shock to you. The Halloween special is an ode to the classic black-and-white horror movies of the 1940s and the 1950s (which actually may have allowed them to keep it under the more mature TV-MA rating) and it does push the boundaries further than your typical Marvel movie or show would.
