Marvel fans were in awe of this image of Dacre Montgomery as the Fantastic Four’s Johnny Storm, a.k.a. the Human Torch.

A brand new year has arrived and the world of Marvel Studios looks more exciting than ever. With a ton of new content announced at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con and D23 panels, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will continue to dominate both the silver screen and the small one in the years ahead, and fans of the franchise couldn’t be more excited.

One project that has already seen quite a bit of change is the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Initially set for release in 2023 as part of Phase Four, the film’s release date has been shifted to 2024, where it will serve as the first film of Phase Six.

While we’ll have to wait a little longer for the film to come out, we will undoubtedly get casting announcements in the near future before it begins production. In the meantime, though, fans will continue to speculate and fan-cast who they think should play the roles. Among those roles will be the uber-popular Johnny Storm.

One name that has come up among fans when discussing potential actors to play the role has been Dacre Montgomery, and this incredible fan art gives us a chance to see what that could look like.

What Dacre Montgomery might look like as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four

Digital artist subi.ozil posted an awesome piece of art on their Instagram account that imagines what Dacre Montgomery could look like if he were cast in the role of Johnny Storm, a.k.a. the Human Torch, in the MCU’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

Montgomery, perhaps best known for his role as Billy Hargrove in Stranger Things, dons the classic all-blue Fantastic Four uniform in the artwork, complete with that iconic 4 on his chest.

Is Stranger Things’ Dacre Montgomery playing the Human Torch in the MCU?

The role of Johnny Storm, and indeed the rest of the Fantastic Four roles, have yet to be cast, so at this point it remains unknown who will be playing any of the characters. With the film now premiering in November 2024, production won’t have to begin as soon as it was originally going to, and that means Marvel Studios could well take its time casting the roles to make sure they get them just right.

Fans were hoping to get some casting news at D23, but that didn’t happen. Kevin Feige did acknowledge the film, officially announcing WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman as director, but also confirming they had no other updates to share about it. Feige and Shakman will now begin the process of finding the film’s cast.

If they were to cast Dacre Montgomery, he would have no problem bringing the charm of Johnny Storm to the MCU. He’s also familiar with superhero projects, having starred as Jason Scott in 2017’s Power Rangers movie.

This isn’t the first time he has been fan-cast in a Marvel role, as the actor himself actually shared a piece of fan art back in 2020, which reimagined him as Wolverine. Clearly, he would be excited at the possibility of playing a character in the MCU, and even though Wolverine is off limits for now, Johnny Storm is just waiting for the right person to be cast. And it goes without saying that Dacre Montgomery would be among the right people for the role!
