There are a lot of exciting projects in the works from Marvel Studios, but few have fans buzzing as much as Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four film.

Although we’ve seen the Fantastic Four take to the big screen a handful of times within the last few decades, fans have always dreamed of seeing what Marvel Studios could do with the characters if given the chance and we’ll soon see those dreams become a reality.

On Nov. 8, 2024, the Fantastic Four are finally coming to the MCU and fans are eager to see which actors Marvel will tap to play the film’s core characters: Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and The Thing.

For the most part, all eyes have been on whether John Krasinski will reprise his role as Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four film which is understandable. Krasinski has long been a favorite to play the character and turned heads with his cameo as Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. 

However, there are three major roles still to be filled including the team’s often cocky and bold young hero, Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch. Thus far, Marvel has not announced who could play the character but that doesn’t mean fans don’t have their dream castings.

Among the many actors whose names have been tossed out by fans has been an actor with a strong connection to the MCU: Liam Hemsworth. While Hemsworth has not appeared in any MCU project thus far, his two brothers Chris and Luke have both played varying roles in the MCU and fans are incredibly eager to see Liam become the latest Hemsworth to suit up for a Marvel film!

What Liam Hemsworth could look like as Human Torch in Fantastic Four

As speculation over who will be tapped to play the role of Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch in Marvel’s Fantastic Four film continues to grow, digital artist Diego de Sousa has gifted fans with their first look at what Liam Hemsworth could look like in the role of Human Torch should Marvel cast him in the film.

In the stunning concept art, Hemsworth is transformed into the Human Torch via a design that sees Hemsworth rocking the team’s iconic blue-hued suits. Clearly, the concept art drew inspiration from the super suits donned by the Fantastic Four in 20th Century Fox’s 2005 film.

But what truly makes the concept art pop is how the art envisions Hemsworth mid-transformation rather than in his full glory as the Human Torch. In doing so, we get a sense of what he could look like as Human Torch but also as Johnny Storm, and the art definitely makes a compelling argument for why Hemsworth should be on Marvel’s radar.

Will Liam Hemsworth be in Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie?

Although Marvel has confirmed Fantastic Four is coming in 2024, Marvel Studios has not yet announced who will play any of the core characters. Because of this, it’s unclear whether Liam Hemsworth might join the MCU as part of the Fantastic Four cast; however, it seems he’s been on Marvel’s radar for some time now.

When promoting Thor: Love and Thunder, Liam’s brother Chris revealed his brother almost was cast in the role of Thor — a role which he would eventually be cast in. He also seemed very intrigued by the potential of crossing paths with him in the MCU should Marvel find a way to bring him into the mix.

"“My little brother almost got cast as Thor,” he admitted. “He was one of the first people who got right down to the wire on getting the part so, I don’t know, I could cross paths with him. That will be fun.”"

If Marvel was interested in bringing Liam into the mix via the role of Thor more than a decade ago, we imagine they’d still be interested in bringing him into the mix today. Whether that could be via a role in 2024’s Fantastic Four or another project in development remains to be seen. All we know is it’s high time Liam joins his brothers and makes his way into the MCU.

When is Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie coming?

Originally, Marvel was slated to release its upcoming Fantastic Four movie in theaters on November 8, 2024. Unfortunately, the film has been delayed with Marvel pushing the film back to February 14, 2025.

Why was Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie delayed?

Marvel Studios is known to keep fans in the dark and maintain a sense of mystery when it comes to its films and movies. This includes keeping casting announcements, projects, and even release dates under wraps. The studio has also been known to keep the reasoning for why it will shift projects around under wraps as well, which has been the case with Fantastic Four as well.

When announcing the delay of its upcoming Fantastic Four film, Marvel did not specify the exact reason it pushed the film back to early 2025. Marvel had come under fire for the pressure it put upon VFX artists, so it’s perhaps possible the delay was in part due to the desire to address these concerns.
