Werewolf by Night: The Heroes

If you’re going to start with the good, you have to begin with the two main protagonists, Jack Russell (Gael García Bernal) and Elsa Bloodstone (Laura Donnelly). They’re the stars and the focal point of the project. With the other hunters basically being there to be killed, those two had to be close to perfect. Thankfully, they were.

The special may have been a bit campy at times, but they balanced it out. Especially when they were together. Elsa was angry, bitter, and it showed. Jack was a sympathetic hunter who’s secretly a werewolf and had an agenda of his own. He was there to save his friend, the Man-Thing (or Ted). Together, Elsa and Jack made a heck of a pair.

This writer wasn’t sure how Man-Thing would fit here other than being a monster. He isn’t a character you’d love if you don’t read Marvel Comics. He doesn’t speak to people and he barely communicates. He did both in Werewolf by Night.

Not only that, he was entertaining. It won’t be shocking when Man-Thing becomes a pop culture star. There will be multiple shirts, Funko Pops, and more coming in the future. He’ll be like Groot, but targeted to adults. Don’t be surprised if Man-Thing stars in his own set of shorts on Disney Plus in the future.
