She-Hulk finale ending explained: Who is [SPOILER] and is [SPOILER] finally happening?
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law bowed out on a shocking note. What does it all mean?
Disney Plus‘ She-Hulk: Attorney At Law ended its first season with a pretty bonkers finale that will undoubtedly leave Marvel fans talking for a very long time.
In spite of the unusual but genius pivot from what we’re used to seeing in Marvel Cinematic Universe properties, the biggest talking point (aside from whether we’re getting that much-needed season 2!) comes from the Hulk-shaped bombshell in the closing moments of the finale.
*** This article contains MAJOR spoilers from She-Hulk episode 9 ***
If you’ve managed to recover from that bombshell, let’s talk about who this new arrival is and what their debut could mean for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What happened in She-Hulk episode 9?
One of the last scenes in the She-Hulk finale saw Bruce Banner, a.k.a. Hulk, return from Sakaar to introduce Jennifer, her family and even Matt Murdock to his son Skaar.
If you’ve been following along with the series, you’ll know that Bruce was contacted by a Sakaaran ship in the premiere episode before then jetting off into space on it in the second episode. Bruce called it a Sakaaran Class A Courier Craft, suggesting that it had been trying to deliver a message to him. Fans of the comics predicted this had something to do with Skaar and it turns out that this is indeed the case.
Just like in the comics, it seems that Hulk’s time on Sakaar in the MCU (as seen in
Thor: Ragnarok
) resulted in him fathering a child. The question is: Is Caiera the woman he fell in love with?
Who is Skaar in She-Hulk?
Skaar is raised as a warrior on his planet in the Marvel Comics, but after the death of his mother, he shows up on Earth in the hopes of killing his father: the Hulk. The Hulk was known as “War Hulk” when he had been exiled to Sakaar and fell in love with Caiera, and his son sought to destroy him. However, upon realizing that he was no longer this person (or, well, Hulk), Skaar stopped fighting his father, saved Earth and declared it his new home.
The arrival of Skaar has been long-rumored in the MCU and it now begs the question if Marvel Studios is planning on setting up the iconic World War Hulk storyline. One of Marvel’s most famous stories, it features Hulk attempting to get revenge on the Illuminati for his exile and the subsequent death of Caiera.
A World War Hulk movie has been rumored for some time, so this could this rumor go the way of Skaar and manifest on our screens? We’ll have to wait and see, but the possibility is very exciting indeed.
Does Skaar have big plans for the MCU?
