Queen Alicent Hightower

Leader of Team Green, aka Queen Alicent Hightower was teetering on being a character we could root for. She was forced into a marriage, but she adhered to her duties to the realm and her King. People hated her for not telling Rhaenyra the truth, but they were kids. Time passed and those wounds never healed, yet Alicent tried to be there for her former friend.

However, the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms fell into the same unlikeable category as everyone else. No, it’s not because of the mass murder of Family Strong. What happened to Harwin Strong, wasn’t all Alicent’s fault. She said something out loud, not knowing what would happen. Larys is a sociopath. She didn’t know what was coming.

Alicent’s flaw is her hypocrisy. She is a deeply devout follower of the Seven. Yet, she is protecting her rapist son by getting rid of his problems. Of course, there’s a theory that she killed the handmaiden to protect their perfect image, but we don’t know for sure. If she didn’t kill the handmaiden, that’s a redeeming quality, but her son is who he is, and she knows it.

She also manipulated Criston because she’s angry about Rhaenyra’s children. We can’t forget how she wanted to take an eye-for-an-eye literally, though that’s a bit understandable. Alicent is living in fear. After all, she thinks that Rhaenyra and Dameon killed their own family so they could marry. What is a Queen to do?
