Fans are eager to see Elizabeth Olsen and Henry Cavill join the House of the Dragon cast, and now we have our first look at what the pair could look like in the show.
There are a lot of uncertainties about the futures of Elizabeth Olsen and Henry Cavill’s futures as their caped counterparts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe, respectively, but one thing that’s certain is both stars remain booked and busier than ever.
Both Olsen and Cavill have become global superstars and household names via their roles as the Scarlet Witch and Superman, but those roles are just the start of the stars’ incredible resumes.
The pair are two of the most talented actors around which is why it’s not too surprising that their names have recently emerged as being on the radar of the HBO brass for potential roles in its biggest hit at the moment: House of the Dragon.

Are Elizabeth Olsen and Henry Cavill joining the House of the Dragon cast?
Are Elizabeth Olsen and Henry Cavill joining the House of the Dragon cast? That’s the million-dollar question for fans of both Olsen and Cavill fans as there have been some rumors floating around that suggest HBO might have its eyes on the two stars.
The rumors first originated from insider Daniel RPK who reported via Twitter that Olsen and Cavill were being eyed for roles in the second season of the show. It’s a rumor that has since set been reported by many outlets but, thus far, it remains nothing more than a rumor as HBO has not announced any casting plans for season 2.
While there is always a possibility HBO has its eyes on the two stars, they both seem to be keeping pretty busy with roles in major franchises. They’ve also both seemed to deny the rumors circulating.
Henry Cavill addresses House of the Dragon casting rumors
Although Henry Cavill seems to love HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel and likes the idea of making his way to Westeros, Cavill has sadly ruled out an appearance in the show’s upcoming second season.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz at 92nd Street Y, Cavill admitted he’s a big fan of the show but debunked the rumors suggesting he had been cast in season 2.
“I enjoy that enormously. I think the writing is fantastic,” Cavill said of the series. “I think it would be cool to be in Westeros. I really do. I don’t think there is a place for me in there though,” he added.
Elizabeth Olsen denies House of the Dragon casting rumor
While Henry Cavill seems to be a fan of House of the Dragon and expressed an interest in how cool it would be to be in Westeros, Elizabeth Olsen does not share the same enthusiasm. In fact, she’s not even following the show nor does she have any plans to join the cast.
When asked about the rumor revolving around herself and Cavill, Olsen told Variety she hadn’t seen the rumor and seemed to question how she even became attached to the rumor (and Cavill) in the first place.
“No, I haven’t seen that rumor! But I’m up to date on House of the Dragon,” Olsen confessed when asked about the casting rumor. “Also, how random. Why him? Why me? I can’t even think of how random that is. I don’t even know that guy, either!” Olsen added when confirming the rumor was false.
We definitely know the pair would be perfect cast additions for House of the Dragon if HBO were to come knocking, but at the moment it’s not looking likely the pair will be joining the season 2 cast. Still, we can hope!
House of the Dragon season 2 cast
At this time, HBO has not announced any new additions to the House of the Dragon cast for season 2 meaning there is always a slim chance they could attempt to lure in some big names for the show’s second season. And while Henry Cavill and Elizabeth Olsen might not be among those added to the cast, it seems likely landing a role in season 2 would be a big deal for any actor given the success of the show.
Beyond new additions, it’s also expected that the second season of the hit HBO series will be brining back many of the breakout performers from the show’s first season. Among those expected to return for season 2 are:
- Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen
- Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen
- Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower
- Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower
- Eve Best as Rhaenys Targaryen
- Steve Touissant as Corlys Velaryon
- Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole
- Matthew Needham as Larys Strong
