Stranger Things season 5 is not coming to Netflix in November 2022

Netflix fans eager for Stranger Things season 5 won’t be getting new episodes of the beloved series this month. Just when is it expected to return?

You’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger TV show in the world right now than Stranger Things. Sure, the likes of House of the Dragon or any Marvel Studios Disney Plus show may generate almost as much buzz, but the Netflix phenomenon proved beyond a shadow of a doubt this year that the TV the landscape belongs to it.

The show returned to screens with a two-part fourth season, with both installments bringing in millions of viewing minutes within their first weeks, and months, making Stranger Things 4 Netflix’s biggest show of all time. But let’s be honest, we knew the show deserved that honor anyway.

Season 4’s arrival came after a three-year hiatus left fans wondering if it could bounce back. Well, spoiler alert: It did! And fans just couldn’t get enough of it as Eleven and her friends went to war with Vecna.

But don’t be expecting its success to make Netflix, the Duffer Brothers or anyone on the creative team to rush out the fifth and final season. Granted, season 5 is happening and it is on the horizon, but don’t be expecting this month. If you were in doubt, Netflix have released their line-up for November and, understandably so, Stranger Things 5 is not listed there.

Stranger Things season 5 release date predictions

Stranger Things was renewed for a fifth season by Netflix shortly before season 4 premiered, with the reveal that it would be the show’s final season. There had been rumors that the show would conclude after season 5 as the Duffer Brothers had envisioned the show as a five-season story, and now it has been confirmed that this will be the case.

With that in mind, it’s best to prepare yourselves for a wait. The show’s final season will take a lot of planning as we’re not just dealing with the final confrontation between Hawkins and the Upside Down, we’re deal with the conclusion of each and every one of these characters’ stories.

But don’t worry! We aren’t in for another three-year wait for Stranger Things season 5. The Duffer Brothers confirmed this in an interview with Variety, saying that “the gap should be quite a bit shorter this time” as they already have an initial outline of what the final season will look like and they aren’t anticipating anymore production hiatuses (like the one that shut production on season 4 down at the beginning of the pandemic).

With all of that in mind, the most likely release window for Stranger Things season 5 would be 2024. A 2023 release might have been possible if production had already begun, but that is not the case, and given what will probably be the huge scope of the final season, it will take some time to film (as all seasons do).

As always, it’s best to wait for an official announcement from Netflix as that will have more clarity (and it will come when the time is right), but rest assured that all involved will make sure the wait for season 5 is worth it.
