Neil Gaiman’s Sandman gets renewed for a second season! Here’s what fans can expect going forward.

When this writer heard that Neil Gaiman’s Sandman was getting a show on Netflix, he was both excited and worried. Sometimes a comic book doesn’t translate well when brought to TV and movies.

Sandman was a perfect comic series, but some people may call it, “too wordy.” Plus, the characters would require actors to perform on a top-tier level.

Not only was the comic adapted well, but it also performed better than anyone could have hoped. It’s so good that it was rightfully renewed for a second season.

Neil Gaiman announced the show’s return on both Instagram and Twitter saying,

"“There are some astonishing stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of them…Now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead, after all. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell”"

What to expect in Sandman season 2

The end of season 1 of Sandman left some questions unanswered and Neil Gaiman got right to them. How will the rest of the family (the Endless) react to Desire’s recent shenanigans? In the comic book, their dinner was one of the best parts of the series. We expect the same during the Netflix series.

How will Lucifer and their minions of Hell start their war with Lord Morpheus and how will it end? In the comic book series, Morpheus’ confrontation with Lucifer concludes with Lucifer renouncing his title as ruler of Hell and going to Earth. This leads to Lucifer having adventures of his own away from Hell. Maybe this could lead to Gwendoline Christie (Lucifer) getting her own series. One that’s different from the one currently on Netflix.

What about Lucienne? She now has a bigger role in The Dreaming. What kind of thing will she change going forward? Is Lucienne going to switch things that make Morpheus upset or will he be proud of what she’s done? Morpheus is a character that’s hard to read. Considering how old he is, it makes sense.

That’s only a few questions that need answering. Thankfully, the creative team behind Sandman on Netflix is fantastic. This writer predicts that season 2 will be even better than the first. There will be deeper moments, the characters will remain flawless, and season 3 will hopefully be announced quicker than season 2 was.
