Who is Bernard in Titans season 4? (Who plays Bernard in Titans season 4?)
Titans season 4 introduces many new characters, including Bernard Fitzmartin. Here is everything you need to know about the character and who plays him.
Titans returns to TV screens after a year-long absence to kick off its heavily-anticipated fourth season. The show’s season 3 finale set the stage for a fun road trip for the heroes and season 4 wastes little time showing us where they found themselves as they end up in Metropolis.
The heroes are in the iconic city to pay a visit to S.T.A.R. Labs. While there, they meet the quirky and friendly Director of Special Projects at S.T.A.R. Labs, Bernard, who guides them around the building, helps them learn a bit more about themselves and their powers, and even helps some of them train.
DC Comics fans might have perked up at Bernard’s introduction, and it’s easy to see why. And yes, you might have noticed he got on pretty well with Tim Drake. No, that’s not a coincidence.
Who plays Bernard in Titans season 4?
Bernard Fitzmartin is portrayed by James Scully. The 30-year-old actor has appeared in TV shows such as Quantico and 9-1-1 but he is best known for his roles as JD on Paramount’s Heathers series and Forty Quinn in the second season of Netflix’s YOU.
Who is Bernard in Titans season 4?
Bernard Fitzmartin may not appear by name in the DC Comics but he is an adaptation of Bernard Dowd. An old friend of Tim Drake’s, Bernard Dowd eventually becomes a huge fan of Robin, unaware that his old classmate is actually the Boy Wonder. The two ultimately end up dating.
When fans discovered that a version of Bernard would appear in Titans season 4, it was via a clip in which Tim wanted to send the S.T.A.R. Labs Director of Special Projects a photo of him posing with the staff he made him – with Rachel and Gar playfully insinuating that Tim might have a crush on him. And after seeing the season 4 premiere, it does indeed seem like these two could follow in their comic book footsteps.
Bernard’s new surname in his on-screen debut is likely a nod to DC writer Meghan Fitzmartin, who wrote Batman: Urban Legends #4 – the comic in which the Prime Earth version of Bernard appeared.
New episodes of Titans season 4 premiere on HBO Max on Thursdays.
