Don’t be looking out for Gotham Knights to boost the DC TV library this year. When can you expect it on The CW?
The CW is making some changes. Big changes, in fact, as the long-running home of the Arrowverse has entered into a new era. It’s all to do with the upcoming sale of the network, which apparently resulted in the cancelation of half of its slate of programming this season.
One of the new shows that will make its presence felt during this new era is Gotham Knights. Set in a Gotham City in the wake of Batman’s death, the show focuses on both Bruce Wayne’s adopted son and the children of The Dark Knight’s enemies as all of them form an uneasy alliance when they are framed for Batman’s murder.
While the show will indeed be coming next season, The CW kicked off its fall schedule and unfortunately confirmed that Gotham Knights won’t be part of it.
But when can fans expect it to debut?
Gotham Knights release date predictions
Gotham Knights will premiere on The CW in 2023. The show is one of three new additions to the network’s line-up for the 2022 – 2023 TV season, but unlike Walker: Independence and The Winchesters which both premiered in the fall of this year, the DC Comics spin-off will be held until next year.
As for when it will arrive in 2023, the network hasn’t given a definitive answer. Most premieres in the midseason tend to come sometime between January or March. While the network has premiered new shows in the summer months in recent years, its new schedule suggests that it’s looking to return to a more traditional airing rota, meaning that Gotham Knights could very well debut early in the year.
There had been rumors online suggesting that it had been cancelled. Those rumors are circulating again with the recent announcement that DC’s Stargirl would end with its current season and the recent reports that the new owners of The CW aren’t interested in ordering any more than 13 episodes for any of the network’s freshman shows. However, rest assured that this is not the case: Gotham Knights will premiere next year.
Look for the show to arrive midseason, along with the ninth and final season of veteran DC series The Flash and the third season of the network’s most-watched show at the moment Superman and Lois.
