Deadly Class’ finale

This writer spent the entire final issue waiting for the ball to drop. There was no way this would end happily ever after, right? If you’ve read the  Deadly Class comic book, you probably thought the same thing. The entire comic book series has been heartbreaking. There was so much trauma, and anytime anyone managed to find a little happiness, it ended up being temporary. Yet, here is this beautiful conclusion to all the horror that happened for over 50 issues. The best part is Rick Remender explained why via Marcus.

Originally, Marcus was going to end his book series on a sad note. After winning their battle, Marcus told Maria why he changed his mind. He said, “All stories end sadly if you follow them long enough. The difference between an up ending and a down one is where you stop. Why not stop someplace nice?” He then concluded saying, “Why add to the sadness out there? After everything we’ve been through, people deserve a happy ending.” Maria and Marcus kiss, and it fades into a flashback.

A terrible ending can ruin something great – just ask fans of Dexter and Game of Thrones! Now that Deadly Class is over, this writer can honestly say that this was one of the greatest comic book stories of all time, and the ending ensured that.

This comic book is not going to fill you with happiness and joy, but it will give a phenomenal story. You’ll laugh, cry, and get angry at what you’re reading. The heroes are likable (even when you hate them) and the antagonists are deplorable. Plus, it’s different from any other comic book out there. At the end of the day, who could ask for more?
