What Norman Reedus could look like as Ghost Rider in the MCU
Clearly inspired by Ryan Gosling’s interest in portraying the character of Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, artist 83pixelstudios took to Instagram to debut a truly jaw-dropping piece of concept art envisioning the 2-time Academy Award nominee as the iconic Marvel hero.
In the movie-quality concept art, Gosling is transformed into the fiery Marvel hero complete with his flaming skull and iconic leather jacket.
The art truly looks like a piece of promotional art for an already-in-the-works Marvel project and definitely makes a strong argument for how incredible Gosling could be in the role if given the chance.
Is Ryan Gosling playing Ghost Rider in the MCU?
At this time, there are no confirmed plans from Marvel to bring Ryan Gosling into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider. However, it is clear Gosling is incredibly interested in playing the character within the MCU and it seems Marvel is interested in bringing him into the MCU.
During a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gosling revealed to host Josh Horowitz that the one superhero he wants to play is Ghost Rider.
It wasn’t long after that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige weighed in on Gosling’s desire to play the role of Ghost Rider. And while he didn’t confirm his casting, he made it very clear that he’s open to bringing Gosling into the fold and finding a place for him in the MCU.
"“Hey man, if Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider…,” Feige told MTV News when he learned about Gosling’s pitch. “Gosling’s unbelievable. Ryan is amazing…I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU."
Not only have both Gosling and Feige commented about him playing Ghost Rider, but there are also some rumors swirling that suggest Marvel might have already signed him to a deal. What’s interesting is that the rumor suggests Gosling would be playing a different Marvel character.
As rumored via Giant Freakin Robot, there have been insider reports Gosling has been approached about playing Richard Rider aka Nova. Marvel has been rumored to be developing a Nova project for some time now, and Gosling would be amazing in the rumor indeed pans out to be true.
Regardless of whether Gosling has already signed a deal with Marvel or the reports remain nothing more than rumors, there seems to be a clear interest from both parties in having Gosling join the MCU.
If that ends up being in the role of Ghost Rider, the concept art above definitely makes a compelling argument for why he’d be perfect in the role. Let’s just hope Marvel will iron out a deal and finally bring Gosling into the MCU, be it as Ghost Rider, Nova, or another iconic Marvel character.
